Carry on Tuesday #14 ~ When a journey begins badly it rarely ends well ~ The Floating Island ~ Jules Verne
~
That boys' home was a brutal place
A poisonous environment
His happy disposition was beaten out of him
~
The new template
A pack rape animal
In a criminal empire
A human shell
~
And yet
This cancerous core could exude
Charm
Wit
Empathy
(Reserved for select women)
A hint of longing
To belong
Sometimes
~
But there was robbery
Heroin dealing
And Roger Rogerson
~
A strange liaison of
Detective and informant
~
A crucible of corruption was
Simmering in the night spots of Sydney
Fast cars and
Fast women
The intoxication of money
Being paid and
Being paid off
~
He was flying on
Vulture wings
~
A wedding in Long Bay Gaol, 1980
Odd shot in
Odd places
Playing family life in Newcastle
And then
Regular trips
Back to Sydney's underworld
The secure wilderness
~
But a wilderness tends to be riddled with
Many strange animals
Many strange skies and changeable weathers over
Many strange, mysterious places
~
Heavy insane beer drinking
A man stabbed to death in a road rage
A prostitute's murder
Parkinson's Disease
Police protection lost
~
He began behind bars
He ends behind bars
And Parkinson's Disease
Advances
~
When a journey begins badly it rarely ends well
For anyone
Joining
The ride
Beyond
The darklands
~
NOTE: This is based on the life of Neddy Smith, NSW, Australia.
Roger Rogerson was stripped of his badge for misconduct.

I measure out my life with haiku. My camera films my soul. ~ Gemma Wiseman
AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Thank you for visiting!
I love my weekly visits to Australia (via your blog)
This is a fantastic story poem! Suspense, life and a journey through life events and strange lands.
Woot! I guess I'm giddy about it too since I just got through reading two of Nora Roberts (JD Robb in Death Series) wonderful
I love this poem. You've created such an interesting character and sense of place, surroundings. Sometimes one just doesn't get they need to change their habits for the better. Have a great night.

The violence of man against man or man against woman is horrifying and difficult to comprehend. nice writing
I was lost in it somewhere!
